Info :

Bozikovic is a Toronto singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who “maps out introspective narratives with clear, evocative turns of phrase, then uses her nuanced delivery to magnify each emotional dip and swerve” (Sarah Liss CBC). Her songs ebb and flow with quietly ornate moments - a riot of strings here, a whimsical Moog solo there. On both her debut Lost August (Dec 2009) and her upcoming release This is How we Swim (Fall 2012), she worked with co-producer Sandro Perri and Heather Kirby (Ohbijou) to embellish her keys arrangements with experimental techniques and lush orchestration. Following the wave of critical acclaim surrounding the release of Lost August, CBC named her as one of the top artists to watch in 2010. She traveled across Canada opening for Ohbijou, who also acted as her supporting band, playing festivals such as Sappyfest and Festival Folk du Quebec. In April 2012, she collaborated with Stevie Jackson (of Belle and Sebastian) on the musical arrangements for Paper Laced With Gold (written by Maggie MacDonald/ Stevie Jackson), and also played keys and sang in the production, which premiered at Harbourfront Centre as part of the HATCH series in 2012.

If Bozikovic’s debut Lost August was an elegy to the dead, her upcoming release This is How We Swim (Fall 2012) explores the symbolic transformations of loss, framed against the movements of bodies and water. The songs of This is How We Swim lead us through dreamy, often quirky landscapes, tumbling with the urgency of a waterfall, and always with a thrill of elemental power at its core. In This is How We Swim, Bozikovic draws us gently into a changing world with skilled, delicate songwriting and a true understanding of longing - the way it surges through us.
